Start with the superintendent’s map
Identify the crew count, shifts, project duration, subcontractor concentration, and temporary peaks. Mark the service-vehicle entrance and a location reachable without crossing crane paths, haul routes, excavation edges, or material storage.
Plan for phase changes
A unit can be convenient during rough grading and inconvenient after framing or paving begins. Review access gates, road base, fencing, and laydown areas before the next phase.
Keep worker access dignified
Consider lighting for early or late shifts, privacy from public roads, a handwashing point where appropriate, and a route that is not routinely obstructed.
